Jason Scerri in LA

Scerri V Mailapet 2

Luck was not on Jason Scerri's side in LA on the weekend. He sustained a small cut above his brow in the first round which opened again in the 3rd round, causing the Doctor to stop the fight, with Malaipet wining by TKO. Jason was doing so well, it would have been great to see the outcome of the fight... Hopefully they will get a chance at a rematch, this time with a ringside Doc that understands that blood is a part of Muay Thai!

Congratulations on a massive effort Jason!

2008 Fight Results

No luck for Jason and Greg at Evo
Jason Scerri drew Eli Madigan and Greg Foley drew Warren Elson for their Contender Qualifier fights on Evolution 15. Both Queenslanders proved too tough on the night, knocking our boys out of the running. It was awesome to be a part of the experience and we are very proud that two of our boys were chosen as Australias top 4 fighters at that weight. All the best to the winner, Eli Madigan in the Contender House!

Greg Foley fought last weekend on WBC Battle Collosal V in Perth and beat his opponent Dusan Salva by KO after 25 seconds. Greg is in great form at the moment and is looking forward to going to S-Cup in Japan

Jason in Japan...
Australian talent Jason Scerri will take on Japanese superstar and 2006 S-Cup Champion Kenichi Ogata on September 12, 2008.

Scerri who has exhuberant talent and fitness will face off against a tough favorite in the competition but likes his chances… “I’ll go over there and take my chances, give it my best shot” he said recently after his narrow loss to Thai ring genius Tananchai at Battle Collosal in Perth.

If Scerri can beat the man loved by the home crowd, it will be sure to rocket him to international stardom and hopefully allow him an invite to the K-1 Max Tournament sometime close in the future.

Kenichi Ogata is known for his strong punches and Herculean strength to throw in the mixed shootboxing arena. He came back to beat Scerri’s stable mate Paul Smith after being dropped face first with a huge punch in the first round in a bout previously… He is no push over.

Good luck Jason, our hope is that you show the Japanese what weet bix and vegemite power is all about!!!

Jason Scerri def Prince Hamid in NZ UPD

Due to not making weight Hamid had to do with the under card bout against Jason Scerri, but if you saw the Princely entrance- Hip Hop rapping to a song dedicated to him, he entered with all the kings rappers and all the kings bling. It was Badir Hari Like, from his fellow country man! It was pretty wicked.

Hamid starts by pushing Jason to a corner, clinches away and upon the ref breaking it; he starts a barrage of body kicks and high kicks which whip lash off the Jabout mans body. In a flash, when everything seemed to be going Hamid’s way, Scerri catches the prince with a smashing left hook and floors him. The count is enforced and the Aussie takes the round! What a stunning turn around….

The confident Maltese mauler comes out with sweeping kicks and looks to clinch again off the ropes. Hamid want to box and use his fancy spinning back kick, it doesn’t connect though. Both guys look to clinch (knee work) and the body kicks start to leave BBQ like bruising on their backs. Jason is more effective with his sweeping low kicks and keeps coming forward. Hamid looks desperate to get something going.

Jason starts to control the distance and works his boxing to precision. He keeps walking forward and nails punches, hard and fast. The prince seems a bit jaded and can’t get anything clean going on. He hits hard but only finds the leather gloves, whilst Jason Scerri seems to have his sniper scope on. The shots were clean and they connected. He was leaping in at will and hitting Hamid flush on the face.

No surprise with the decision, Jason Scerri walks away with a unanimous win- massive disappointment for the Prince whose hopes were like running water on the floor. Massive upset and huge scalp for the Maltese Mauler, who was a graceful gentleman!

Ben Jones wins his fight at Phuket

Ben has won his bout in Thailand by KO in round 4. Well done Ben.

From Ben: 'Just letting you know I had my fight, I was pretty happy I won but there were a lot of things i did wrong. If you watch the fight I was gassed after the first round (nerves). My left leg got smashed (after 2 kicks I couldn't lift it to check his kicks - it was so corked). Now it looks like i have a purple orange sticking out my thigh!

Overall i am pretty happy, like I said there where a lot of things I need work on like standing my ground better and being a bit more aggressive, but for my first fight I am really happy.
